EPRI worked on developing a national best-practice social protection which will provide continuous learning and development to stakeholders in Kenya’s social protection system. As part of the first phase of the project, EPRI conducted a needs assessment and gap analysis to identify know ledge and capacity gaps in social protection at three levels of government (national, regional and local), which included a review of both demand-side and supply-side factors.
EPRI used the analysis conducted in the first phase to help guide and develop a comprehensive Kenya-specific training package that responded to the needs of social protection stakeholders. As part of the last phase EPRI is expected to train a cadre of trainers from the Kenya School of Government and assess their ability to deliver the training programme to other social protection stakeholders. EPRI will also develop a long term strategy to institutionalise capacity development within the social protection section in Kenya, which will be delivered through national institutions.
