In the face of the accelerating COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting demand for evidence on what works (and why), UNICEF Headquarters commissioned EPRI to conduct rapid review of global social protection responses to the crisis.
The rapid review aimed to address the gap, particularly examining issues specifically relevant for women and children during the COVID-19 crisis and provided a baseline evidence base as well as immediately actionable strategy analysis and recommendations at country, regional and global levels.
This project has produced a global report analysing the findings in terms of health, economic, and social impacts of the crisis and global social protection responses in terms of vertical, horizontal, and diagonal expansions as well as adapted and new programming.
It also produced policy recommendations to convert the lessons learned from the pandemic into policy innovations that contribute to long-term, sustainable development through twenty individual country briefs and three country-level micro-simulation analysis reports.
