The Landscaping Financial Inclusion and its Linkages with Social Protection in Africa is a completed project for the MasterCard Foundation. The goal of the project was to strengthen the community of practice across Africa relating to financial inclusion, promoting development of financial inclusion strategies through social protection programmes.
The final report for the project outlined the current social protection landscape in Africa, the existing trends in financial inclusion and its linkages to social protection across a number of countries of interest. Key drivers and barriers of financial inclusion were identified through cases studies from eight African countries and were analysed.
As part of the report, EPRI developed a set of recommendations for the better integration of financial inclusion with social protection programmes.
